Electromechanics in secondary education in Flanders (Belgium) is a technological orientation, combining theory and practical applications. It allows students to prepare either for higher education in technological fields or for direct professional integration into the labour market as a qualified technician.
Students in this course develop skills in research and contextual analysis of applied mathematics and science, in fields such as electrical-electronics, mechanics, mechanical fluids, pneumatics and thermodynamics.
They acquire a technical process-oriented way of thinking and develop advanced technological skills in the areas of automation, industrial electrical installations, programmable controls, electro-pneumatics, (dis)assembly technology, as well as maintenance and diagnostic techniques specific to the electromechanical sector.
They also learn how to plan and execute electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance actions, with or without using digital tools.
